In the Community: What's In Bloom
Three-Flowered Avens (Geum triflorum)
Also called “old man’s whiskers” and “prairie smoke,” this sun-loving plant blooms in May and early June. First Nations people used it for medicine and perfume. The flowers and flowering stalk are pink in colour and appear in groups of three.
