How do archaeologists find a site?
Most sites are reported to archaeologists by people who are constantly working on the land, especially farmers and ranchers. However, when archaeologists go looking for sites, they follow several procedures.
· examine aerial photographs
· examine eroded areas such as lake or river banks, or blow-outs in sandy areas
· dig small test pits in an area where they suspect a site might be
